How these two meet

Taurus and Virgo: the one who keeps and the one who notices, in the same kitchen.

Taurus is the one who keeps things. Not hoards: keeps. The good pan, the chair that fits, the person who turned out to be worth the trouble. Value, once assigned, does not get reassigned, and depending on the week that is either the steadiest thing about them or the most immovable.

Virgo is the one who notices. Everything, continuously, without being asked and often without meaning to. What gets noticed gets improved, because seeing exactly how a thing could be better and leaving it alone would feel like a small lie.

Put those two in a kitchen and it runs for years. Nothing gets dropped. There is enough and it is good and neither of you had to argue for any of it.

Then one of you adjusts something the other had decided was finished, and it turns out that finished and good enough were never the same word.

The two bodies behind you cannot get away from each other. Venus never stands more than 47.3 degrees from the Sun and Mercury never more than 27.8, so the widest gap they can open between them is 73.8, a fifth of the wheel, measured across two thousand years. Your two signs sit at a hundred and twenty degrees, the easy angle, the one everybody wants. The bodies that rule them have never once been able to stand at it.

Which of you decided that noticing a thing is the same as caring for it?

For Taurus, the work is saying that a change landed as a correction, on the day it lands, in a flat voice, without deciding first what it meant.

For Virgo, the work is leaving one thing alone that you can see exactly how to improve. Not forever. Until Sunday.

There is no distance available between Venus and Mercury, and there is not much between the two of you either, which is why a small correction arrives at full size and always will.

120 degrees apart

A hundred and twenty degrees apart, a third of the wheel, and the aspect everybody hopes for. Signs four along share an element outright, which means they share a polarity too, and the only thing they differ on is modality. It is the easiest distance there is, and easy carries its own bill: nothing in this geometry ever forces either of you to explain yourself.

The two rulers

These two signs are ruled by Mercury and by Venus, the two bodies that go round the Sun inside our own orbit. Both are tied to it, Mercury within 27.8 degrees and Venus within 47.3, so the furthest they can ever be from each other is 73.8. That is a fifth of the wheel, measured over two thousand years. These two rulers can never be opposite, never square, never even trine. Whatever happens between them happens close up.

A sign is still a general lens: it says nothing about where your Moon or your Venus actually fell. A synastry report reads your two real birth charts against each other, with the aspects that are genuinely there.
