Quincunx, nothing shared

Two neon zodiac wheels, one red and one blue, with two interlocking hearts between them

How these two meet

Aries and Virgo: neither of you can find the handle, and Libra and Pisces are not in the room.

The friction is that neither of you can find the handle. Aries pushes and there is nothing to push against, because Virgo does not push back, Virgo revises. Virgo offers a correction and it does not arrive as care, because Aries was braced for a fight and a correction is not one.

You have each been in a room where this was easy, and it is worth naming who was in it. For Aries that room had Libra in it: the sign directly opposite, who meets a push with an equal and opposite push, out loud, at the same volume, and calls that a conversation. Virgo sits one place past Libra on the wheel and has all of the carefulness and none of the willingness to stand in front of you.

For Virgo that room had Pisces in it, the sign directly opposite Virgo, who receives being noticed without needing the noticing to be useful. Aries sits one place short of Pisces and cannot receive anything that is not an action.

Mars runs 2.13 years between reversals and gives no signal before the turn. Mercury goes back over its own ground three times a year. No shared element, no shared modality, no shared polarity, and not even the shared axis that two opposite signs are given. A hundred and fifty degrees is far enough not to see each other and not far enough to be a defined contrast.

Which of you decided this was going to be difficult?

For Aries, the work is taking one correction as the thing it is, and saying so, instead of answering the tone it arrived in.

For Virgo, the work is pushing back once, badly, at volume, with no reason attached to it.

And a third: you are not going to become Libra and Pisces. You have each been quietly waiting for the other one to.

Mars commits and Mercury revises, and at a hundred and fifty degrees there is no element, no modality and no polarity in common, and no shared axis either.

Everything the two of you have was translated. None of it came across intact, and you have both been calling that a failure.

150 degrees apart

A hundred and fifty degrees apart, and like the semi-sextile it is not one of the five aspects Ptolemy kept. Signs five along share nothing: not the element, not the modality, not the polarity. The semi-sextile comes up as empty-handed, but its two signs at least touch. These two are most of the way across the wheel from each other with no common ground at any point along it, which is why the terms keep having to be invented as you go.

A sign is still a general lens: it says nothing about where your Moon or your Venus actually fell. A synastry report reads your two real birth charts against each other, with the aspects that are genuinely there.
