How these two meet

Taurus is Venus with weight. What is good is good, and it stays good, and it gets kept: the chair, the meal, the person, the same as last year and the year before that. Value assigned once and defended without argument, because arguing would imply it could go the other way.
Libra is Venus with a scale. What is good is good in relation, and a relation is never finished, so the weighing does not stop. Nothing gets settled, because settling would mean the scale had stopped and the scale is the entire faculty.
The scheme put those two houses on opposite sides of the axis on purpose. Venus is the second step out from the two lights, Libra on the Sun’s side and Taurus on the Moon’s, a hundred and fifty degrees between them. And each of you is one sign short of the person who would have been easy: Taurus’ opposite is Scorpio, who wants intensely and says so, and Libra is what comes just before Scorpio. Libra’s opposite is Aries, who decides and then moves, and Taurus is what comes just after Aries and does not decide anything, it recognises.
So the only thing you share is the faculty itself, and you have never once agreed about how it should be used.
Who is the person you would have found easy, and where did you put them?
For Taurus, the work is reopening one value on purpose, and saying out loud what the new weighing produced.
For Libra, the work is closing one thing and refusing to reweigh it for a month.
And a third: neither of you is going to concede that the other one’s Venus is Venus. You each privately think the other one has it slightly wrong.
One body runs both ends of this house and the scheme set its two rooms a hundred and fifty degrees apart so they would never have to meet, and the cost of having met anyway is that neither of you can call the other one wrong about beauty without calling yourself wrong.
150 degrees apart
A hundred and fifty degrees apart, and like the semi-sextile it is not one of the five aspects Ptolemy kept. Signs five along share nothing: not the element, not the modality, not the polarity. The semi-sextile comes up as empty-handed, but its two signs at least touch. These two are most of the way across the wheel from each other with no common ground at any point along it, which is why the terms keep having to be invented as you go.
The two rulers
The same body holds both of these signs. In the classical scheme every planet except the two lights gets two, one on each side of the Leo and Cancer axis where the Sun and the Moon sit: Venus is the second step out, which puts Libra on the solar side and Taurus on the lunar one. And Venus is the steadiest of them. It spends 7.3 per cent of its life going backwards, less than any other planet on this wheel, against Mercury’s 19.1, so when it does turn it is not a thing that passes in a fortnight.
