How these two meet
A receipt on the side, from a restaurant neither of you has mentioned. Virgo saw it on Tuesday, priced it, worked out who it was probably with, and put it back exactly where it was, at the same angle.
Scorpio saw Virgo see it. Scorpio has known since Tuesday that Virgo knows, has said nothing, and is waiting to find out how long Virgo will hold it. It is now Sunday. The receipt is entirely innocent.
Mercury turns back three times a year over ground it has already crossed, and Virgo has now been over Tuesday about forty times. Mars runs 2.13 years between reversals and gives no signal before it turns, so Scorpio is not deciding anything yet, in the particular way that somebody who has already decided is not deciding anything.
Neither of you is going to open this. Between a mutable sign and a fixed one there is no cardinal modality at all, so the receipt stays on the side until one of you moves it, and moving it will not be starting the conversation either.
For Virgo, the work is asking the small factual question on the day, before it has been rehearsed forty times and turned into an accusation.
For Scorpio, the work is volunteering the boring explanation before it is requested, which will feel like giving up a position.
And a third: waiting to see who breaks first is a game you are both extremely good at and neither of you enjoys.
