How these two meet

The old scheme gives Mars two houses and puts them deliberately far apart, one on each side of the Leo and Cancer axis where the two lights sit: Scorpio on the Sun’s side, Aries on the Moon’s, the third step out in both directions. The distance was the point.
So you are the same drive arriving twice with no shared vocabulary to describe itself. Aries is Mars with the safety off, immediate, spent in the moment, and 2.13 years between reversals means it commits completely for a long time and then turns without warning. Scorpio is the same 2.13 years spent holding instead, the same total commitment pointed inward and downward where nobody can audit it.
And each of you is one sign away from the person who would have been simple. Aries’ opposite is Libra, who meets force with force in public and calls it fair; Scorpio is not Libra, Scorpio is what comes after Libra, when the public part is over. Scorpio’s opposite is Taurus, who wants what it wants in daylight and will say the price out loud; Aries is what comes before Taurus and has not worked out yet that there is a price.
Neither of you can accuse the other one of being different. That is what makes it hard. You are the same, at a distance the scheme built on purpose.

A hundred and fifty degrees apart, and like the semi-sextile it is not one of the five aspects Ptolemy kept. Signs five along share nothing: not the element, not the modality, not the polarity. The semi-sextile comes up as empty-handed, but its two signs at least touch. These two are most of the way across the wheel from each other with no common ground at any point along it, which is why the terms keep having to be invented as you go.
The two rulers
Two signs, one ruler, and the scheme puts them on opposite sides of the sky on purpose: walking outward from the Sun in Leo and the Moon in Cancer, Mars is the third step, which gives it Scorpio on the solar side and Aries on the lunar one. Mars also has the longest patience of the five planets. It only turns backwards once every 2.13 years, the rarest reversal any of them makes, which means it spends longer than any other planet pushing in a single direction before it stops.
