How these two meet

Gemini and Scorpio: everybody has the same theory about the two of you and the theory is wrong.

Everybody who has watched the two of you for a year has the same theory, and the theory is that Scorpio is the deep one.

It is not that. Gemini goes exactly as deep and comes back up, repeatedly, inside the same afternoon, which from outside reads as never having gone.

Mercury turns back three times a year and spends nearly a fifth of its life recrossing ground. Mars runs 2.13 years between reversals and holds the whole way through. The same territory, two entirely different ways of being in it, and no shared element or modality or polarity to translate between them.

And the two who are absent: Gemini’s opposite is Sagittarius, who takes the speed and gives it a horizon, and Scorpio is what comes just before Sagittarius, with the depth and none of the horizon. Scorpio’s opposite is Taurus, who wants in daylight and states the price, and Gemini is what comes just after Taurus, and states four prices, none of them binding.

Here is what has actually been going on while everybody had the wrong theory: Scorpio tells you things. Not many people, and not often, but Scorpio tells Gemini things that have never been said out loud anywhere, and the reason is that Gemini does not keep them, does not weigh them, and will be somewhere else with them by Thursday. That is not carelessness. For a sign that has never been able to put anything down, it is somewhere to put something.

How much of what you know about them did you work out rather than being told?

For Gemini, the work is holding one of those things for a week and giving it back on purpose, so that it is visible that it was held.

For Scorpio, the work is telling Gemini one thing and then asking, plainly, what they did with it.

Mercury does not keep anything and Mars keeps everything, and between the two of you there is a place where a thing can be said and not filed.

Neither of you has ever named that arrangement. It has been running for years with no word for it and it will keep running until one of you wants one.

150 degrees apart

A hundred and fifty degrees apart, and like the semi-sextile it is not one of the five aspects Ptolemy kept. Signs five along share nothing: not the element, not the modality, not the polarity. The semi-sextile comes up as empty-handed, but its two signs at least touch. These two are most of the way across the wheel from each other with no common ground at any point along it, which is why the terms keep having to be invented as you go.

A sign is still a general lens: it says nothing about where your Moon or your Venus actually fell. A synastry report reads your two real birth charts against each other, with the aspects that are genuinely there.
