How these two meet
Gemini and Libra: nothing gets settled here, and nobody gets written off either.
From outside it looks as though nothing is ever decided here. The two of you talk, and the talking is good, and then the talking continues, and a person watching would quite like to know when something is going to be settled.
Inside it is worse than that, because you both know. Gemini keeps opening the next door because the next door is interesting. Libra keeps declining to close any of them, because closing one would mean somebody had preferred something.
So the accommodations stack up quietly. Libra agrees a little faster than they meant to. Gemini says the thing three ways until one of them is acceptable, and by then neither of you could say which way was the true one.
Underneath, these are the only two rulers on the wheel that cannot get away from each other. Mercury stays within 27.8 degrees of the Sun and Venus within 47.3, so the widest gap they can ever open is 73.8. They cannot oppose. They cannot even square. Whatever happens between them happens at close range, and there is no version of it where one walks off far enough to be properly wrong.
Which is the part that works, and it has taken five paragraphs to arrive at because it takes years to arrive at in a house too: nobody here ever gets written off. You have each been the one somebody stopped listening to, somewhere else. Neither of you has done it to the other, not once, and that is not luck.
How much of what you two say is said to keep the room pleasant?
For Gemini, the work is saying one thing once and not offering the alternative version. Let it sit there being the only one.
For Libra, the work is disagreeing before you have worked out how it will land. Out loud, early, badly.
And a third: an unresolved conversation is not the same thing as a kind one. You have been trading the second for the first for a while now.
Mercury never stops moving and Venus never stops weighing, and between the two of them nothing gets buried and nothing gets thrown out.
You will still be talking about this in twenty years. Neither of you has yet had to find out what happens when one of you says no and the conversation has to end somewhere.
120 degrees apart
A hundred and twenty degrees apart, a third of the wheel, and the aspect everybody hopes for. Signs four along share an element outright, which means they share a polarity too, and the only thing they differ on is modality. It is the easiest distance there is, and easy carries its own bill: nothing in this geometry ever forces either of you to explain yourself.
The two rulers
These two signs are ruled by Mercury and by Venus, the two bodies that go round the Sun inside our own orbit. Both are tied to it, Mercury within 27.8 degrees and Venus within 47.3, so the furthest they can ever be from each other is 73.8. That is a fifth of the wheel, measured over two thousand years. These two rulers can never be opposite, never square, never even trine. Whatever happens between them happens close up.

A sign is still a general lens: it says nothing about where your Moon or your Venus actually fell. A synastry report reads your two real birth charts against each other, with the aspects that are genuinely there.
