How these two meet
Aries and Leo: two people who both walk in first, and only one door.
The trouble starts about four minutes in, and it starts on a good day. Aries arrives with the thing already decided and half begun. Leo arrives expecting to be met, looked at, taken in. Both of those are ways of walking into a room first, and only one of you can.
Neither of you will call it competition, because competition is what you both privately believe you are above. So it comes out as tempo instead. Aries is already moving and cannot see why Leo is still standing in the doorway. Leo is holding the doorway on purpose.
Mars starts. That is the whole of its job: it goes first, it goes now, and it does not check whether anyone is watching. The Sun does not start anything. It stays in the middle and lets everything else move around it, and it never once turns back. Two ways of being the centre of a day, and only one of them needs an audience.
What you get for it, on the good years, is a house with no dead air in it. Aries never has to pretend the plan is not theirs. Leo never has to pretend they do not want to be seen wanting it. The pretending is what exhausts you both everywhere else, and here neither of you has to do it.
Whose day was it, and who decided?
For Aries, the work is finishing something where Leo can watch it finish. Not announcing it. Letting it land in front of them.
For Leo, the work is going second on purpose, once, on something that matters, and not narrating what it cost.
And a third: the day does not have to belong to either of you. That will feel like a loss to you both for about an hour.
Mars goes first because going first is what it is for, and the Sun stays because staying is what it is for. Neither of you is doing the other one wrong.
You have both spent your lives being told that wanting the room is a fault. It is only a fault when there is one room and you have agreed not to mention it.
