How these two meet
There is a spreadsheet, or a drawer, or a shared folder with a name like Admin, and everything either of you has ever been afraid of is in it, converted into a line item.
The mortgage is in there, and so is the parent who is going to need a room in about four years, and so is the thing neither of you says out loud about the business. Every one of them has a plan attached and none of the plans was ever discussed at length, because you each built yours separately and they turned out to agree.
Saturn takes 29.43 years to cross the twelve signs, does not revisit anything, and spends 36.4 per cent of its time apparently going backwards while arriving in the same place regardless. Two of those makes a house where the future is fully provisioned and the present has not been scheduled.
So the question everybody asks the two of you, which is when you are going to enjoy any of it, gets the same answer from both of you, and the answer is a date.
And here is what the folder is actually for, which took a decade to become visible: neither of you has ever been able to be a burden. The plans are not about the mortgage. They are the only form in which either of you has ever managed to ask to be taken care of.
For one of you, the work is asking for one thing directly, in the present tense, with no plan attached to it.
For the other, the work is saying yes to it without improving the terms.
And a third: the folder can stay. Nobody is asking either of you to be less prepared. The question is whether a single thing in it was ever going to be enough.
The question
What are the two of you building it for?
One conscious action
one thing, present tense
Each of you ask for one thing this week that is happening now and not in March.
No spreadsheet. No date. The sentence begins with I want and ends without a condition.
Saturn takes twenty-nine years to cross the wheel and does not go back over anything, and there are two of them in this house.
Everything either of you is afraid of has been costed, scheduled and provisioned, and neither of you has ever said any of it out loud in a sentence that begins with I am afraid.
So which of you is going to be the first, and what have you both decided that would make you?
