Fire and Fire Compatibility

Fire and fire: two people who both move first.

Wanting shows on the face before it reaches the mouth, and the body leans in half a second ahead of the decision to lean. Put two of those together and there is no long approach, no reading of signals, no waiting to see who moves. You both moved.

Wanting is visible on both faces at the same moment, so neither of you has to decide whether to show it first. What would be exposure with one person is weather with two: shared, obvious, and not worth remarking on.

Reaching is the reflex, so a gesture comes back as another gesture, warmth answered with more warmth, and nobody ever lands. Someone offers you something and the chest tightens instead of opening, because taking it without giving back immediately feels like a debt. Two people doing that at once burn bright and stay hungry.

Momentum can also do the work a decision was supposed to do. You can go a long way before either of you notices that nobody ever said yes to this on purpose.

Being met at your own intensity is its own event, and the relief of it can be mistaken for compatibility when it is really recognition. Recognition is a beginning. It is not yet a shape.

Stillness is the harder move for both of you. Not the stillness of holding back, which fire does badly and resents, but the stillness of letting something arrive and stay arrived, unanswered.
